The second annual Harvest Festival was a big hit with local families this weekend.

The event, which is hosted by Spencer Hill Orchard in Grand Forks, is a fundraiser and membership drive for the Kettle Valley Food Coop.

Families were treated to locally grown produce, fresh baked apple pies, a by-donation pick-your-own pumpkin patch, great music and fresh apple cider during the one-day event.

The apple press was a huge hit with kids. They had a chance to crush up the apples and sample the juice right out of the press.

The Kettle Valley Food Coop is now 170 members strong and provides members access to an online locally produced and grown shopping experience. For more information about the food coop visit them online at www.kettlevalleyfoodcoop.org.
