If sand, sun and beach aren’t enough to bring you from Castlegar to Christina Lake then add on the chance to learn some hot summer salsa moves this weekend.

Dance instructors from Kootenaygroove.com are heading to Christina lake to share some summer dance sizzle Aug. 4 from 4 – 8 p.m. Instructors Ory Jimenez and Amber Hayes normally teach in Castlegar, Rossland and Trail and are looking forward to a beachside escape.

“Teaching at Christina Lake will be a mini-vacation with being able to enjoy the beach during the day and get the dancing going from 4- 8 p.m.,“ comments Hayes, “and hopefully the class can even do a bit of dancing on the beach at the end of the workshop.“

This salsa workshop teaches the Cuban Salsa Casino style which lead instructor Jimenez says is a distinct dance from what you often see in typical ballroom style.

”The salsa casino style is a fun, social dance which can go from basic steps to some pretty interesting turns, plus it is easy to learn so by the end of the workshops folks will be able to dance it,” said Jimenez

This dance workshop is also timely given the rapid approach of the Christina Lake fundraiser “Feistaval” scheduled for Aug. 9 which will be a great chance for students of the workshop to try out their moves. The salsa dance workshop is $20 per person or $40 per couple/family. More information about the dance style, demo videos and registration are available at www.kootenaygroove.com or call amber 250-368-7618.
