Summer Homecoming captures the community spirit of the people who love Christina Lake. This year’s schedule of events looks great and everyone is encouraged to come and bring their family and friends to the festivities.

This year’s celebration begins on Friday, July 20 at the Christina Living Arts Centre where we will celebrate the centre’s one year anniversary. There will be a wine and cheese party, slide show of the past years’ events and a presentation about the role of Christina Lake Stewardship in the community.

Also at the Christina Living Arts Centre, on Saturday, will be a workshop with guest musician Lowry Olafson. Pre-registered participants can help to write a song about Christina Lake from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. And from 1 – 3 p.m. everyone is welcome to attend a free workshop on “The Applications of Solar Power” for homes.

Saturday there will be morning & evening activities running at the Community Hall on Park Road, kicking off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Community Hall Association, served all morning. By 9 a.m. you can browse the market, art and history displays. There will also be live demonstrations by some of the local artisans and a visit from some furry friends from Owl Mountain Ranch.

By Saturday evening the new Christina Lake Song will be performed at 5 p.m. to kick off the community dinner alongside the children from Christina Lake Elementary School singing 50 Years of Learning. Lowry Olafson will also treat the crowd with a few songs from his Boundary Country album. Later in the evening some local talents will treat audiences: Kira Gammie, Damien Alblas and Les Folles Jambettes.

Anyone who would like to showcase what they do around the lake for business, art, entertainment can have an educational booth demonstrating skills or set up your vending tent outdoors. Contact homecoming@chrisitinalake.com to get involved!
