Canada Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this beautiful country we live in, the freedoms and opportunities we have, and the natural splendour. And what better place to celebrate than in cottage country and by one of Canada’s most spectacular holiday spots – Christina Lake.

This is a small community event, country style, planned on a wisp and a whistle, and based around the weekly Public Market held on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the mural on Highway 3. The Christina Lake Supportive Living Society has stepped up to the plate to present a day filled with Canada Day activities, games, prizes, family fun, FREE HOTDOGS, CAKE and entertainment, before everyone heads off to The Lake for the afternoon to cool off with a swim, go boating and have fun, or to check out new facilities in the area, like the Christina Living Arts Centre.

Canada Day Market – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All vendor and information booth spaces are FREE on Canada Day, and everything and anything goes, from arts and crafts, to fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, clothing, new and used (a chance to pass on those unwanted treasures sitting in the garage or basement), even foot massage. Stalls are limited only by imagination. There is however one stipulation, that any baking and canning must have Food Safe certification.

Huge Canada Day Sidewalk Drawing

All kids and kids-at-heart are invited to add creative expression to a huge community sidewalk chalk drawing – beside the mural. Make a mark or add a whole drawing – all with the theme of Canada Day and what Canada means to you.

Entertainment at the Marquee – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local talent is invited to present their favourite family style music at the Marquee. So bring along your lawn chairs and sit back and enjoy music while feasting on your free hotdog.

Kids Activities – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Youngsters will be on hand to organize kids’ activities, tattoos, games and great fun for all. Kids are also invited to participate in a Decorated Bicycle Contest.

O Canada and Cake – 12 noon

A very familiar local representative (we won’t give away who at this point) will be leading everyone in our national anthem and inviting everyone to enjoy a special Canada Day Cake.

Yes, it’s Canada Day, Christina Lake style. So come BY THE MURAL and join in the celebrations!
