Masked gowned guests revelled at the Venice carnival style ball last Saturday hosted by Gallery 2.

Several months ago the Grand Forks Art Gallery Society identified the need for another fundraiser to meet the increasing cost of operations and to hedge the uncertainty of receiving government grants.  Plans for an event to mark the end of a long winter and bring on the celebratory atmosphere of spring were hatched.

Gallery 2’s First Annual Masquerade Ball held last Saturday was a resounding success.  Local band “Mad Dog 20/20” complete with their own “fan following” brought out a group of party goers that visited the elegant heritage building for the first time . Regular patrons of Gallery 2 were on board with their support as usual.

The theme of the ball was a Venice Carnival and, while the Gallery provided the masks with the cost of the ticket, it was an unknown whether or not the Ball goers would be all that enthusiastic about creating costumes.

By the photos it seems certain that perhaps an elegant Masquerade Ball is just what the doctor ordered to banish the winter blues and bring on spring in style.  A great time was had by all revellers and be assured that plans are already being discussed for the 2nd Annual Masquerade Ball next spring.
