Grand Forks remembers
Grand Forks and Christina Lake residents joined in the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the cenotaph in downtown Grand Forks on Friday morning, Nov. 11.
After a parade to the site including local dignitaries, RCMP, fire fighters from both communities, paramedics, scouts and guides, wreaths provided by families of soldiers, local businesses and individuals were laid alongside the cenotaph as the names of the fallen soldiers were solemnly read aloud by a legionaire.
Anglican minister, Simon Shenstone, led the prayer after the wreath were laid, and a final parade back to the legion for refreshements closed the day’s ceremonies.
