Encourage kids to gobble up some great reading this summer at the free summer reading club. Children will ‘savour each word’ when they join the club offered at the Grand Forks and District Public Library.    Regular reading during the summer helps kids to maintain or even improve their reading and literacy skills. Studies show that voluntary reading is the number one factor in establishing good reading habits. Summer reading club makes reading fun and the expert staff at the Grand Forks and District Public Library can help kids find just the right book or magazine from among a wide variety of library materials.    Kids can sign up at the library starting on Tuesday, June 21 and receive a fabulous free reading record and bookmark! Check out the free, fun programs, contests and displays at the library all summer long. Anyone who completes their reading record will be eligible to receive a special summer reading club medal.    Summer reading club reaches over 85,000 children across British Columbia every summer and is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association with funding assistance from the Public Library Services Branch of the Ministry of Education. In Grand Forks, the summer reading club is sponsored by the Grand Forks Credit Union, the Friends of the Library, and Beta Sigma Phi.
