Come home to Christina Lake this July
The Christina Lake Homecoming event, designed to captivate the community spirit of the people who visit, live in or who have ever lived in the region of Christina Lake, will celebrate and reminisce with friends, neighbors, or build new relationships. Area C Regional Director Grace McGregor extends an invitation to everyone who loves Christina Lake to their community celebration July 22 and 23. This year, Community Futures will welcome all guests to their tent, where there will be a chance to win a golf package for two at the Christina Lake Golf Club, a stay at the New Horizon Motel and dinner at Cascade House Restaurant. Children can enter a draw for an I-Pod Nano and other great prizes. On Friday evening from 7 p.m. onwards visit the new Christina Welcome Center as the Christina Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts a social complete with wine and snacks. There will also be a slide show by the Christina Lake Arts and Artisan Society highlighting how the new facility came to be and some live entertainment. On Saturday morning bring the entire family over to the Christina Lake Community Hall for the Pancake Breakfast starting at 9 a.m. Afterwards there will organized fun and games for everyone from children to seniors. Enjoy the atmosphere of a flea market and live demonstrations by local artisans. And don’t miss the historical exhibit, photographs and children’s art exhibit! On Saturday afternoon escape the sun, relax and be entertained by White Star Lady from 3 – 4:15 pm. White Star Lady is an outstanding one-women musical about the life and adventures of Titanic Survivor, Ms. Violet Jessop. A stewardess aboard ocean liners for 43 years, her experiences at sea are unequalled by anyone in her position. She was aboard all three of the ill-fated sister ships: RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic, and HMHS Britannic. The personal stories of these incidents are all documented in this unique and engaging musical production. Saturday evening kicks off in style with a performance by Les Folles Jambettes can-can dancers at 5 p.m. sharp. Then you can quench your appetite while the local fire department serves up their famous burgers! To quench your thirst, the Community Hall Association will serve drinks at the bar. Support this community picnic by arriving with your best tray of cupcakes or a delicious salad of your choice for all to enjoy. After dinner sit back while the Hip Sisters will dazzles with a Middle Eastern fusion dance performance. Then sing along to classic cover tunes by Steve and Doreen Cavill. Put on your dancing shoes while Dave Jackson serenades us onto our feet. And to brighten up the night there will be a fantastic lights display by the Illuminosity Fire Spinners!
So mark these dates on your calendar because you won’t want to miss the fun and excitement, July 22 and 23. See you there! http://christinalakehomecoming.blogspot.com/ Join our facebook page for event updates:
