LETTER: Seniors get beds in the hallway - meeting called to fight for local extended care

Dear Editor;

I write with great concern regarding the situation surrounding the Broadacres Care facility, a beautiful, bright, home-like facility with 14 available beds. A facility which anyone needing this level of care would choose as their home.

I have been keeping in touch with Cindy Rozak-Campbell from Interior Health and I now quote from her letter to me: “We have space for nine temporary beds in a hallway adjacent to the existing Hardyview Lodge at Boundary Hospital and will be preparing those over the next six to eight weeks for use.”

I question if anyone would choose a bed in the hallway over a bed at Broadacres. Is this what our seniors get after contributing to our communty?

There is going to be a meeting for all concerned at the public library meeting room in Grand Forks at 7 P. M. Thursday Apr. 28. Everyone welcome!
