Midway Boundary RCMP and local search and rescue teams have confirmed locating lost hunter 39-year-old Catalin Mihalache of Port Coquitlam late Monday. Mihalache went hunting alone in the Christian Valley area, and was reported missing by his wife earlier in the day.

Mihalache left for the Christian Valley area on Friday, with enough food and water for two days. He last contacted his wife at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, to say that he was in the Rendell Creek area. He was expected at home Sunday and, when he didn’t return, his wife contacted Kelowna RCMP at around 2 a.m. in the morning. Police received a cell phone triangulation of the last contact made from the cell phone. The position was within a 10 kilometre radius of the Big White Cell tower.   The search was determined to be within the Midway RCMP’s area and was handed to them with assistance from Creston RCMP and their respective search and rescue units.   “We have limited information at this time as searchers and the RCMP are returning from the area, but we can report thought that he is in good spirits and healthy,” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
