Mark your calendar for June 19 and plan to attend Homecoming 2010 in Christina Lake. Thanks to the vision of regional district area C director Grace McGregor, Christina Lake is working to establish a tradition that encourages current and past residents to join together to remember the old days and celebrate the future of the community. Many local groups are banding together to invite everyone out for the day to enjoy friends, family, fun, food and festivities.

If you live at Christina Lake invite your family and friends who were raised here to travel home and reconnect. If you know a group that visits in the summer from out of town, pick up the phone and give them a call! Tell everyone you know to visit www.christinalake.com under the community tab for more info or join the fan page at www.facebook.com/ChristinaLakeHomecoming.

The day will begin with a pancake breakfast followed by an art show and sale to highlight the talent of our region. In the afternoon there will be a preview of the new Christina Living Arts Centre. Also, in the afternoon you are encouraged to get your official or unofficial group together and share stories, look through photos or play games.

Take advantage of all the recreation options; play horseshoes, tennis, lawn bowling or baseball. Ride bikes together, hike or go for a boat ride. Then when you are hungry, you can head down to the Community Hall for the barbeque and potluck, bring your own dish or dessert to share. There will be live entertainment and a licensed bar.

The main focus of the evening is to enjoy eating, casual social time and meeting your neighbors and old friends. The historical photo exhibit in the Community Hall will be a highlight of the day. The exhibit will feature interesting images of people and scenery, local businesses and cottages or buildings from the old days, including recent photos too. If you have any images to contribute please call Teri at 250-447-6290 or homecoming@chrisitnalake.com.

The event co-coordinators are looking for volunteers, art submissions and ideas call 250-442-7680 if you are interested. Come out to Christina Lake and establish a new tradition that celebrates and unifies the community past and present. See you on Saturday, June 19th, 2010!
