Call for nominations for International Women's Day

Every year the Boundary Women’s Coalition takes time to honour women in the Boundary communities who are outstanding. Not outstanding to them, but outstanding to their friends, the community and anyone who chooses to nominate them. Nominees are recognized on International Women’s Day, March 6, 2010.
The Coalition would like to provide an opportunity to invite the residents of the Boundary Area to honour outstanding women. “You may nominate as many outstanding women as you’d like,” says co-ordinator Margie Henderson. “We do not re-award the same person in the same category for a period of three years. You are welcome, however, to nominate a former winner in a different category.”
This year’s celebration will be held at:
The Grand Forks Senior’s Centre:
565 71st, Grand Forks City Park
From: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Agenda to include: Awards ceremony, light refreshments and dessert.
Everyone is welcome to attend – come with your spouse, children, friends etc.!
Categories open for nomination are:
Community Leader:
A Boundary area woman who has made a significant contribution to her community, through volunteerism, dedication, promoting equality for women and children or in other significant ways;
Woman in Business:
A Boundary area woman who has made a significant contribution to her community through either owning or managing a successful business which contributes to her community;
Youth (age 13-19):
A young woman who has done extraordinary work, outside of school, that has benefited her community through volunteerism, extracurricular activities, or peer support;
Inspiring Friend:
A Boundary woman who has inspired others through her work, passion, guidance, or helped facilitate positive changes in other women’s lives;
Healthy Role Model:
A Boundary woman who has demonstrated a commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle and has encouraged others to explore mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being;

Please Note: It is MUCH easier to prepare the awards, if the nomination is received by email. To request a form by email call: 250-442-5212. Please email your completed nomination forms to: bwrc@telus.net. Hand-written copies are also acceptable. Kindly drop them off at the Boundary Women’s Resource Centre, 268 Market Ave. Grand Forks during drop-in hours on Tue., Wed., or Thur. between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. All nominations MUST be received no later than midnight Feb. 10/10
Any information provided is held in confidence by Boundary Women’s Coalition. It will not be shared with any other organization. We do periodically inform friends of BWC of upcoming events or celebrations, and/or send them invitations and our newsletter “The Mirror.”
