BC Southern Interior Member of Parliament Alex Atamanenko is concerned that the federal Conservative party is heading for a spring election as a result of the closing of parliamentary sessions until March. But Atamanenko will be using the break to take time and meet with his constituents.

The public is invited to meet MP Atamanenko and discuss issues with him at the Grand Forks Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

According to Atamanenko, many Canadians are concerned about the Prime Minister’s decision to prorogue Parliament until March 3.

“I am hoping to visit as many communities as possible to meet with constituents and talk about this and other issues that concern them,” said the NDP MP.

“As a result of the prorogation it is possible that Canada may face a spring election, despite Mr. Harper’s assurance otherwise,” added Atamanenko. “So much time and effort of parliamentarians and staff has been wasted by the government’s ending much of their past year’s legislative agenda.”
