The first annual snow sculpting competition held in Grand Forks on Saturday, Jan. 23 left some interesting shapes in city park for the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations. Four teams entered the inaugural event sponsored by Les Johnson of What's Up In Grand Forks. One team had to give up due to the snow conditions, but the other entrants were successful in their designs.

A local man passed away last Friday on Red Mountain. This was the first death of the year on the ski hill.
