A Castlegar man was killed Wednesday morning in Edmonton, after being struck by a truck just before 2 a.m.

Global News is reporting that a Dodge Dakota truck was heading north from 23 Avenue down the ramp to Gateway Boulevard when it hit a pedestrian near the end of the ramp.

Twenty-five-year-old Brandon (Brando) Robertson was pronouonced dead at the scene of the accident, and a woman has been charged with impaired driving causing death (her name is not being released due to a publication ban).

Brandon’s family has been notified and have set up a Facebook page for people to honour his memory. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1470344436575589/?fref=ts

Brandon’s father, Randy Robertson, said in a brief interview today that he wants media to report this tragedy to raise awareness and, hopefully, prevent more such heartbreaking situations.

“I have no anger, hate, bitterness towards the driver,” he said. “I want kids to hear the message … alcohol is a killer.”
