In the six months since Rossland’s Tom Feeney was found murdered in his home, RCMP investigators have been following a number of tips but are still looking for more help in identifying the person or persons responsible for his death.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014 at approximately 11 am, the Trail & Greater District RCMP Detachment received a 9-1-1 call after a body was discovered at a residence on Feeney Road near Rossland. Upon arrival, police found the body of a 75-year-old man, identified to be long-time resident, Tom FEENEY.

The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit was called in to assist with the investigation, along with other regional and provincial resources. The preliminary findings suggested that this was a random incident, or a crime of opportunity that resulted in the tragic death of Tom FEENEY.

Police have received numerous tips with regards to this investigation but are still looking for more help in identifying the person or persons responsible.

On June 9, 2014, police detailed several items that had been stolen from the home and are still seeking information about:

  1. A 40 inch Emerson LCD Color TV Model – CLC401EM2F Sold by Walmart Canada;

  2. 5 Firearms including a unique one described as a Pedersoli/Cimarron Arms 1874 Sharps 45-70. This is an extremely unique (rifle) – with an octagon shaped barrel and a distinctive firing mechanism and sight;

  3. .45 caliber Lyman, Schmitzer Led Alloy Long Range High Performance rounds.

In addition to the above items, several other items have since been identified as having been stolen during the event and investigators are also asking for information about:

  1. A BARNETT Crossbow with white markings on the butt stock and the hollow cut outs on the stock are the same. The crossbow stolen from FEENEY’s residence had a broken string;

  2. A 30/30 lever action rifle has a saddle ring, which is rare;

  3. The fox double barrel break action shot gun with a single trigger;

  4. A clay pigeon thrower.

The RCMP continues to have a dedicated Tip Line for the public to call should they have any information about the stolen items or this homicide. Anyone with any information can call the Tip Line at 1-877-987-8477.

The public is encouraged to call the Feeney Homicide Tip Line; however, if you forget the number please call your local police department or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
