Phoenix Cenotaph: remembering soldiers from the Great War

November 14th, 2011 1 Images

The Phoenix War Memorial commemorates the sacrifice of fifteen men who were from Phoenix and died in, as it was called until 1939, the Great War.

The photograph below shows five people who regularly attend this, their personal Remembrance Day Ceremony. Each knew of the whereabouts of the War Memorial and individually decided that it was important to recognize that these men should not be forgotten. Our small group “Remembers Them”.  After our silence for reflection, their names are read-out and our poppies are left on the Memorial.
