I've heard it said that raising teenagers is like trying to nail Jello to a tree. It's only fair to my adolescent readers to point out that, from their perspective, dealing with parents is often a very similar experience. So, what does this have to do with technology? Well, McAfee just released a report in which they looked at the computer use of 1,357 10- to 17-year-olds in the U.S. While I don't recommend McAfee anti-virus or any of their other products, I definitely recommend giving their report a quick read here.
Many people in British Columbia feel both dismayed and betrayed by the HST. It is a $2 billion shift in hidden sales taxes from business to consumers done by a government who said sales tax harmonization was not on the radar screen during the most recent election. True, government reduced income taxes to soften the blow of the tax shift, but meanwhile, it increased other taxes. If government cuts one tax then raises another, people are no better off.
The 2010 Pharmasave Christina Lake Triathalon was challenging for the participants, but worth all their hard work. There were individual participants from youth to seniors, and teams took a run at the prizes too. Biking the hill up from the townsite, swimming the lake, and running the course on a hot day worked up a sweat for the treats served up by the Grand Forks Rotary Club at the end of the race. 95 individuals and 18 teams of two or three members vied for the trophies at this intense race.

Grand Forks residents lent their voice to the collective voices of protesters across Canada on Friday as they rallied against the G8 / G20 summit being held in Toronto. Headed by the Boundary Peace Initiative (BPI), a small but vocal group gathered after their march through town at the Source on Market Ave. to share their reasons for participating in the protest and hopes for change in the world.
BC’s media has shown exactly why that new Sun TV News channel to cover Canadian events, issues and news with an edge is so badly needed.
““There’ll be a range of opinion. It’ll be different, it’ll be less politically correct. If you’re wondering what the presentation of what kind of news stories we’ll be interested in, and a flavour of the commentary that we’ll have, pick up the Sun newspaper, you’ll probably have a pretty good indication,” said Kory Tenycke, front man for the proposed channel when it was announced a few days ago.
