This summer, Whitewater Ski Resort plans to install its new Glory Ridge Chair. The chair was formerly identified as the BS1 lift in the Master Plan, and will service the terrain currently referred to as the Backside. “The mountain crew, in cooperation with mother nature, hope to have the lift ready to load as conditions permit this coming season” says General Manager Brian Cusack.

Grand Forks residents lent their voice to the collective voices of protesters across Canada on Friday as they rallied against the G8 / G20 summit being held in Toronto. Headed by the Boundary Peace Initiative (BPI), a small but vocal group gathered after their march through town at the Source on Market Ave. to share their reasons for participating in the protest and hopes for change in the world.

Every community has a story. For Christina Lake the story dates back to the times before even the First Nations story began, back to the time that only exists in the legends of the S’nixit people who lived in the area. Marilyn James, of the S’nixit nation, explained that the story of Christina Lake is still being created in the area today.
James participated in the raising of the story pole at the Christina Living Arts Centre last Saturday, June 19.

BC’s media has shown exactly why that new Sun TV News channel to cover Canadian events, issues and news with an edge is so badly needed.

If things go according to right-wing Quebec millionaire Pierre Peladeau’s plans the Republicanization of Canada will, in the near future, take a in another giant leap. Peladeau, the founder and major owner of the Sun media newspaper chain (the most right-wing in Canada) is planning to launch an all news channel which has been dubbed ‘Fox news north.’ The man in charge of developing the network – and getting it past the CRTC – is Tory Teneycke – formerly Stephen Harper’s junk yard dog in charge of intimidating and manipulating the media.

The body of a missing 19-year-old Castlegar man, Zachary Larsen, was recovered from the Columbia River today.
Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew said a passerby walking along the riverbank spotted the body in the river between the Robson and Kinnaird bridges.
She said a forensic examination will be conducted, but until the results are available, it's impossible to say whether foul play was a factor in the young man's death.
"We don't know, and we won't until the forensic exam is complete," she said. ''Hopefully, that will have some answers for us."
