UPDATED: Fort St. John man arrested near Silver City

A man from Fort St. John, who has managed to evade police for more than week, was finally arrested Friday morning  near Trail.

 

RCMP said in a media release Friday, that Ishmani Baker was arrested Friday (December 7, 2018) at 10:40 a.m. at a rural property on Columbia Gardens Road.

 

Police officers from the Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment,  Kootenay Boundary Regional GIS, Trail and Castlegar Crime Reduction Unit, West Kootenay Traffic Services, Kootenay Containment Team and Cranbrook Police Dog Services were involved in the arrest.

 

Police said Baker was arrested for his ten unendorsed Warrants of Arrest out of Fort. St. John and will be facing criminal charges in addition to the ones from Fort St. John.  

 

“The police dog was deployed as Baker resisted arrest and was attempting to flee again from police,” the release said.

The stolen property was located during the arrest and will be returned to the owners.

Wanted Fort St. John man believed to be in Nelson area

Nelson RCMP in a media release said the detachment is asking the public's assistance in locating 21-year-old man from Fort St. John, BC, wanted on several BC wide arrest warrants. 

Ishmani Baker is wanted on numerous outstanding unendorsed warrants for his arrest out of Fort St. John, BC, and is believed to be in the Nelson area.

Baker is described as: 

  •  Caucasian male 21 yrs old
  • Height 5'7"
  • Weight 181 lbs,
  • Hair blond
  • Eyes blue

The warrants included: 

  • Breach of Undertaking under Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code x 2 
  • Assault with a Weapon under Section 267 of the Criminal Code
  • Uttering Threats under Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Mischief under $5000.00 under Section 430 of the Criminal Code x 2 
  • Enter Dwelling with Intent to Commit under Section 349(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Failing to Comply with a Probation Order under Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Baker, who has been seen in the Trail area, recently managed to evade police on several occasions, most recently when police converged in the Beasley area Sunday evening in efforts to arrest Baker.

Police advise the public not approach Baker but, instead, call 9-1-1 immediately. Anyone with information regarding his current whereabouts is asked to contact the Nelson RCMP at (250) 352-2156 or via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
