SPOTLIGHT FILMS: Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made

Greetings to all Spotlight Films members, sponsors, and friends:
Our committee is thrilled to have made a $400 donation to the Grand Forks and District Public Library which has allowed them to purchase a film licensing agreement for the year. This donation will greatly enhance the library's opportunities to engage with our teen population as well as the rest of Grand Forks. They will be starting off with Friday afternoon films for kids on the last Friday of each month. Thanks to all of you and our broader audience for supporting Spotlight Films.  Our increased attendance allows us all to support community film ventures.
Our August film is Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made.  Brad Wheeler of The Globe and Mail recommends:
"If you see only one movie this summer, see the movie about the movie it took seven summers to make. Hype? You bet. But the hard sell is warranted when it comes to a documentary with a high-flying title and an action-adventure blockbuster
legacy attached. This is Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made, a film devoted to coming-of-age summers, grown-up realities and the running down of Spielberg-sized dreams with boulders chasing relentlessly behind".
Spotlight Films
the 4th film of our 13th season!
Tuesday, August 30th
7:30 pm @ The Gem Theatre
You can watch the trailer  here  and/or read the TIFF synopsis at the end of the email.  OurSeptember 27th film (not the 20th as mentioned previously), The Idol, is based on the true story of the Palestinian singer Mohammed Assaf.
We have a Facebook page. Check us out (Spotlight Films) and "like" us so others in the community can see what great films we bring to GF!  Even if you are not a FaceBook member you can access the information groups offer on their sites.
REMEMBER:  if you are a Spotlight Films member and can't make a show, you can always lend your season's pass to a friend.

See you at the movies!
(Committee members: Scott Davis, Lizanne Eastwood, Kim Eburne, Zak Eburne, James Elliott, Larry Hudema, Michelle Venne, John Westaway, Mary Ann Westaway)
