The Kootenay Boundary Regional Art Exhibition has moved into the 21st century by going digital for their 30th annual exhibit. Traditionally, the Kootenay Boundary Regional exhibition has been an annual themed art exhibition, hosted by a different community in the West Kootenay each year.

The exhibition is an open call show where works are exhibited to the public and jurors provide feedback to artists through individual critiques and by selecting works to receive awards. This year, for the 30th anniversary, they broke tradition and embraced technology to offer an online exhibition to share the rich culture of the West Kootenay with the world. Information about next year’s exhibition, hosted by the Revelstoke Arts Council at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, will be available in early 2010.

” We want to thank this year’s jurors, Richard Reid of Christina Lake and Paul Crawford of Penticton, as well as to the generosity of the sponsors: Cowan’s Office Supplies, Island Mountain Arts and the Province of BC through the BC Arts Council. Thanks also to the artists, who have provided their “personal best” for you to experience,” said Krista Patterson, co-ordinator for the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council.

Please vote for the People’s Choice award at the link below by December 31st, 2009.

Prizes in the following categories will be awarded by the jurors:

Exceptional artistic achievement in the Established Artist category

Exceptional artistic achievement in the Emerging Artist category

Scholarship award to the “2010 Tony Onley Artist’s Project”
generously donated by Island Mountain Arts in beautiful Wells BC. For more information about the 2010 Toni Onley Artists Project please check out their website at: www.imarts.com/artschool
