Phoenix Mountain Alpine Ski Society is getting ready move a building donated by Ross and Elaine Glanville.

We will use it as a new first aid and ski patrol building. The Glanvilles, Regional District of Kootenay Boundary area’s C, D, and E all have donated monies totaling $14,000.00 towards the move, new foundations, interior and exterior renovations,” says Treasurer Don Colclough.

The Grand Forks Rotary Club has offered help with the move and the rebuilding project. Phoenix has also asked the doctors of the community to help them out since it is a first aid building, explained Colclough.

The Phoenix Mountain Alpine Ski Society is a community group that manages the community owned Phoenix Mountain Ski Hill. This group of volunteers puts in hundreds of hours each year to promote a winter recreational venue for our community as a whole, for children and their families.

“We average 12 to 13 thousand visits per season,” said Colclough. “This year there were 25 children in our Nancy Greene racing program, and hundreds of students from our local schools in the Learn to Ski program.”

The Ski hill’s Board of Directors believe this venue is not unlike the pool, arena or the curling rink in offering recreational products for the community.

“We are just not in the city limits for obvious reasons,” said Colclough.

The Board of Directors want to thank all involved so far in making this another successful project for the ski hill.
