Man in police-involved Bonnington shooting dies Saturday

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. made the announcement in a release on its website Wednesday.

The man who was shot in an altercation with police Feb. 13 in Bonnington has died, according to an IIO release Wednesday.

"The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. confirms that an adult male involved in an officer-involved shooting in Bonnington has died," the release read. "At approximately 2 a.m. on Feb. 13, ... RCMP located a vehicle they believed to be involved in an incident. It was reported that there was an interaction with the male driver and an officer discharged a firearm resulting in an injury to the male."

"On Saturday, Feb. 16, the IIO was notified that the man had died in hospital. IIO personnel have been in contact with his family and the investigation into the incident continues."
