It’s not every day we get a BC-celebrity coming to the library – but we’ve got one lined up for Thursday, April 16 at 6:30 pm.

Former CBC Radio host (of BC Almanac fame) Mark Forsythe will visit the library to talk about his latest book, From The West Coast To The Western Front. He’s teamed up with historian Greg Dickson to create a sweeping portrayal of the role British Columbians played in World War I: “Compiling stories, artifacts and photos sent in by BC Almanac listeners from across the province, this volume tells of submarine smuggling, bagpipes lost on the battlefield and of the ongoing struggles by soldiers who made it home. It tells of battles that set records for mass death amid conditions of unequalled squalor, but also of the heroism of front-line nurses and soldiers like George Maclean, a First Nations man from the Okanagan, who won the Distinguished Conduct Medal.” Don’t miss it!

Book Sale

Our Spring Book Sale will be held on Thursday, April 9 (10 am – 8 pm); Friday, April 10 (10 am – 5 pm); and Saturday, April 11 (10 am – 2 pm). All sales are by donation, and funds will go towards supporting the library. This event is organized and run by our wonderful Friends of the Library group.

Poetry Cafe

April is National Poetry Month, and the Writer’s Guild invites you all to attend their Poetry Cafe at the library on Thursday, April 23 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Recite your own poetry, read something from one of your favourite poets, or just come and listen! Refreshments will be provided.
