To celebrate Canada’s birthday, the Kootenay Gallery is hosting a two-part program to promote community creativity and engagement. One part is an exhibition by professional artists from June 15 – July 28 at the Kootenay Gallery. The other part is a community-based series of activities, engaging as many Castlegar and area citizens and community groups as possible.

In order to create the exhibition, we are looking for proposals from professional artists from throughout the region responding to the theme of 150 Creative Acts. The exhibition could consist of documentation of the process of creative acts, the highlights or results of the process or whatever you choose, depending on your proposal. We will select between three and 10 artists who will exhibit their work between mid-June and July, 2017.

Selected artists will be paid CARFAC fees in accordance with rates for a group exhibition.

Submissions Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of originality, response to the theme, depth and criticality of thought, demonstrated quality of work and potential interest to audience.

Applicants should send in a cover letter, a written proposal/artist statement, along with a portfolio of between 10 – 15 images, an image list and a current artist cv. Additional materials that are submitted might not be reviewed as part of your proposal.

Your proposals can be submitted electronically (with Drop Box links if needed) to: kootenaygallery@telus.net or as a paper application to:

Kootenay Gallery, 120 Heritage Way, Castlegar, V1N 4M5

If you want your application returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelop.

Deadline for Proposals:

Dec. 16, at 5 p.m.

Applicants will be notified of decisions in January, 2017.
