Grand Forks Mounties nab suspect in recent arrest

RCMP said a suspect with ties to the Grand Forks and Boundary area is facing numerous charges.

Grand Forks RCMP recently made an arrest in connection to a dangerous driving and flight from police incident.

On Thursday, March 25, 2021 a suspect was spotted driving away from Grand Forks on the 6400 - block of Highway 3.

The male is known to the local police and known to be a prohibited driver. Mounties attempted to stop the man, who fled from them.

As the man was deemed to be driving erratically, a pursuit was not initiated. This man was again spotted in Grand Forks on Monday, March 29 and arrested without incident.

The male is identified as Jake Benjamin McMahon, 38 years of age, and has ties to the Grand Forks and Boundary area.

McMahon has been formally charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, 3 counts of Driving while Prohibited or Suspended, and wearing a disguise with intent. In addition, McMahon was on a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO) and missed his curfew condition. An arrest warrant was issued for breach of his CSO. McMahon has been in custody since his arrest and will be held till his next appearance on April 6.

Grand Forks Detachment Commander, Sergeant Darryl Peppler says McMahon is known to us and our neighbouring detachments, and we received much support and assistance from them.
