Economic forum addresses natural disasters in Central Kootenay

Registration is open for the Community Futures Central Kootenay 2019 Community Economic Development Forum in Castlegar, BC on April 8 – 9.

The theme for this two-day event is Natural Disasters – how to prepare, respond and recover.

The forum will bring together experts who have helped businesses through recent natural disasters, including flood and wildfire. Learn about disaster preparedness, response and recovery for your business and community.

The event will kick off with Mel Reasoner (Climate Resources Consulting) and a discussion on how our climate is changing and what to be ready for.

Speakers include Dale Wheeldon (BCEDA), Jeremy Stone (SFU) and Colin O’Leary (O’Leary & Associates).

You will also hear from Jennifer Wetmore (Community Futures Boundary), Roly Russell (Chair, Regionl District Kootenay Boundary), Deb Arnott (Community Futures Sun Country) and Karen Eden (Community Futures Cariboo), who have all experienced natural disasters in their community and can share their experiences and learning.
