"Come home" Christina Lake homecoming festival

‘Come home to the lake’ is the rallying call for Christina Lake Homecoming Summer
Festival,now in its fifth year. This year’s theme: “Community Shines” aims to inspire the many returning residents and visitors to toast the little community that could, and catch a little of the local sparkle.
Imaginative planning makes this an interactive weekend for all – starting with the Wine & Cheese and Volunteer Recognition reception and unveiling of ‘The Giving Tree’ at 7:00 pm on Friday, July 11 at the Arts Centre, the activitypacked morning that follows at the Community Hall–by donation pancake breakfast, market, displays, and local performers – and the communitywide ‘lightup- the beach’ celebration on Saturday evening at the provincial park picnic site.
Plan to add your own dazzle to the evening celebration (bring a solar light!), and following the barbeque at 5:00 p.m.(by donation), get ready to dance to (and even share the stage with (!)) Morrison’s Van, Three Yards Over, and return favourite from Vancouver, Blackberry Wood.
Keeping things illumined will be glow volleyball, fire dances by the local dance troupe, and a moonlit boat parade. With enticing prizes for brightest and best decorated boats, organizers hope for a shining finale to their community fete.
And while you are waiting for evening festivities to begin, launch your kayak to explore the quiet shores of Gladstone Park at north end of the lake, take a hike along sunsoaked Deer Point Trail, balance the Kettle Valley Railway on your bike across two trestles and one gorge, or simply, pitch your towel early at the public beach and go for a swim in the warm waters of Christina Lake.
