The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating following the discovery of the bodies of two men on Saturday afternoon near Ashcroft.

On Aug. 17,  Lytton RCMP frontline officers were called to a rural area north of Spences Bridge for a report that two bodies had been discovered at that location.

George Hazard-Benoit has been found safe and sound after spending 30 plus hours in thick dense woods in the Lions Lake area in Mackenzie.

George was reported missing after he became separated from his mom while she and a friend were berry picking.

The Manitoba Medical Examiner has completed the autopsies and confirmed that the two deceased men located in Manitoba on Aug. 7, 2019 were Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky, according to Dawn Roberts, Director in Charge, BC RCMP Communication.

She said their next of kin have been notified and they have been offered support.

On my trip to the Okanagan in June, I stopped by Mariposa Farms fruit stand to buy some cherries. The owner, Kulwinder, has been farming in the Similkameen Valley since 1987. Every box of B.C. cherries or bag of locally grown apples she sells helps support her family and the families of her employees.
