Columbia Valley RCMP is releasing images of a suspect in connection to the armed robbery of a local pharmacy in an effort to identify the individual and advance its criminal investigation.

On June 27, 2021, just minutes after 12 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery just committed at the Invermere Pharmasave, situated on 10 Avenue in Invermere BC.

The Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen RCMP (PSOSRD) have opened an investigation after two more churches were destroyed by fire early Saturday (June 26) morning.

In a media release Saturday, the Princeton RCMP received a call at 3:52 a.m., the St. Ann's Catholic Church on the Upper Similkameen Indian Band (USIB) near the small community of Hedley was on fire.

Today the RCMP announced the appointment of Assistant Commissioner Dwayne McDonald who will be the next Commanding Officer of the RCMP in British Columbia. A/Commr. Dwayne McDonald will assume the rank of Deputy Commissioner when he takes over command from D/Commr. Jennifer Strachan on July 1, 2021 No decisions have been made yet with respect to a formal change of command ceremony.

BC Wildfire Service crews in the Southeast Fire Centre were busy Wednesday responding to a wildfire north of Balfour.

BC Wildfire Service said on Twitter that the Knob fire is burning four kilometers north of Balfour.

“The fire is about 0.5 (hectare) and is lightning caused,” BC Wildfire Service said.

 Effective at 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, June 25, 2021, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires, as well as other equipment and activities will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre. This prohibition is being implemented due to increased fire danger ratings caused by a warming trend throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.
