On April 4, 2011 in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Justice D. J. Taliano in the case of Regina versus Mernagh handed down a decision supporting on individual’s rights to access medical marijuana.

Roughly 25 volunteers were on hand to scour the neighbourhoods and highways for all forms of trash and debris at the 11th annual Christina Lake cleanup, organized by the Christina Lake Stewardship Society.
 
Of particular note on Saturday, May 28, were the efforts of six time volunteer seven-year-old Allison Palmer. Allison, who has been cleaning up her hometown since the age of two, was by far the champion cleaner on the day.
 
“It’s really a lot of fun to come out and help out,” she said.

Residents of Grand Forks living at or near the Granby and Kettle rivers are not in the clear yet as water levels on the two rivers that run through the area are expected to rise again as soon as Friday.
 
Over the weekend water levels on the Granby River fell by three feet while on the Kettle River levels dropped by two feet.

First Nations Make Historic Decision in Health

First Nations in British Columbia passed a historic resolution to assume greater control and decision-making over their health and wellness.

146 of the 167 Chiefs and representatives in attendance (87%) voted in favour of the resolution which will make BC First Nations the first in Canada to take over health service delivery from the federal government. The resolution also provides the First Nations Health Council a strong mandate to work with the Province and the Health Authorities.

Bigfoot was allegedly caught on video by a woman less than 240 kilometres from Nelson.

A woman from Spokane, Wash., posted a You Tube video May 24 of the creature she claims to have accidentally caught while she was hiking in the woods near Spokane.

The grainy video was taken with an iPhone while she was out for a walk in the woods with her friends.
