Dear Editor;

I am so happy at the way the government is handling the harmonized sales tax (HST) question. It has assured me that although the head of the snake has been cut off, the rest of the snake continues to wiggle in deceit.

POLICE: RCMP seek help in tire theft

Police are asking for help to locate a truckload of tires valued at over $40,000 that was stolen from the Grand Forks Kal Tire shop. The break-in took place on Thursday, Jun. 23 sometime during the night and the thieves made off with numerous new and re-tread tires.

"The outside fenced compound had been broken into," said Corporal Richard Lanz, operations supervisor at the Grand Forks RCMP detachment. "Due to the large number of tires stolen, it is believed that a trailer had to be used in this theft."

These communities produce the food British Columbian families rely on, contribute to jobs we depend on, and are home to countless families, friends and neighbours. And like all communities, residents in them are concerned about how their neighbourhoods look and feel, and want to ensure potential developments lead to positive change. 

Hike Observation Mountain as part of your Canada Day

Last year, 26 people and four dogs climbed Observation Mountain as a celebration of Canada Day. It was a happy group of youth, novices and walkers - all were proud of their achievement.

This year the third annual climb is planned with three routes: Easy from Copper Ridge – 1.6km and 182m/597ft; Medium from Barbara Ann Park – 3km and 261m/856ft; Harder from Wildlife Hall – 1km and 175m/574ft.
