Dignitaries and local residents gathered to celebrate the ground breaking at Grand Forks’ newest seniors housing development, Silver Kettle Village, on Tuesday.
 
Boundary-Similkameen MLA John Slater was joined by Grand Forks Mayor Brian Taylor, Golden Life Management’s CEO Endre Lillejord and Interior Health Authority (IHA) representatives in the ceremonial ground breaking for the residential care facility to be located on 72 Avenue just southwest of the Grand Forks Curling club facilities.

The Kootenay / Boundary region woke to the impact of a magnitude 4.6 earthquake in the early hours this Friday morning.

The earthquake’s epicenter was just outside of Omak, Washington at 5:09 a.m., the second in a week according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

The earthquake that took place last week in the same area was only a 2 in magnitude and was not felt as widespread.

The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control is issuing a public health advisory to identify passengers who traveled on Greyhound bus #5098 on Oct. 11 and were exposed to an active case of tuberculosis.

The ill person took Greyhound bus #5098 from Vancouver at 5:45 p.m., arrived in Chilliwack at 7:45 p.m. left Chilliwack at 8:05 p.m. and arrived in Kelowna at 11:55 p.m., during the infectious stage of the disease. The individual is currently receiving treatment in Kelowna.
