This Thursday evening, Cranbrook-based author Ghada Alatrash brings her new book, So That the Poem Remains: Arabic Poems by Lebanese-American Youssef Abdul Samad to the former Rouge Gallery (and even more formerly, the Bank Of Montreal...) for an evening of music and poetry as Alatrash reads from her translations to musical accompaniment in the form of both Western and Arabic music. This week the Telegraph had an opportunity to speak with Alatrash in advance of her reading.

Awards recognize the efforts and achievements of Boundary women

Historically, the Boundary Women’s Coalition has celebrated International Women’s Day in Grand Forks.  In 2012, at the suggestion of women living in the West Boundary, International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Midway Community Hall.  This year, the event was held at the Christina Lake Community Hall with more than 60 people in attendance.

Arts Council questions SD51 on censorship of DECK over mooning scene

The Boundary District Arts Council (BDAC) is accusing School District 51 of being “inconsistent” when it chose to censor the DECK presentation because of a bare-bottomed scene but not The Vagina Monologues, which was performed at the same Grand Forks Secondary School Centennial Auditorium in 2003.

Three of the society’s directors – president Michele Garrison, vice president Anya Soroka and secretary Ted Invictus -- made a presentation to the School Board during their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 12.
