With the formalization of Healthy Campus Initiatives, Selkirk College is leading the way in supporting students outside the classroom, recognizing that learners brings with them their entire life circumstances, not simply pen and paper  or a laptop.

Trail Rotary donates $10,000 for Riverfront Centre

The Rotary Club of Trail has made a generous donation of $10,000 to the Trail Riverfront Centre, the City’s soon-to-be new constructed integrated library and museum.  Rotary’s donation to the City of Trail will help offset the capital cost of construction for the building and will be acknowledged with a designated “Rotary Room” within the facility.

‘Imagine The Stories’ Winner of 2016 People`s Choice Award

“Imagine the Stories” by Winlaw artists Rabi’a and Carl Schlichting, was the big winner at the 2016 Castlegar Sculpturewalk Awards, taking home the coveted People’s Choice Award. This sculpture will now stay in the City’s permanent collection.

Trail and Beaver Valley reach recreation agreement

The City of Trail’s Recreation Negotiating Committee and the Beaver Valley Parks and Recreation Committee (BV Rec) have reached a five-year recreation agreement, effective Nov. 1, 2016. BV Rec will contribute $125,000 annually to allow Beaver Valley (BV) residents to utilize Trail Parks and Recreation facilities, programs and services for the lower-tiered fees outlined in the City’s Trail Resident Program (TRP).

Japanese visitors honour Doukhobor community for past kindness

Pastor Dr George Takashima from Lethbridge, Alberta, has been bringing tour groups to Castlegar to take in the history of the Doukhobors at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre for a number of years now. This year he came with a request to make a presentation to the Doukhobor people so a somewhat impromptu event was pulled together.
