BEDC unveils new regional visitor website
The Boundary Economic Development Committee (BEDC)  is proud to announce the completion of phase one of a regional web portal aimed at increasing tourism in the Boundary Region.

“We’re very happy to have finally reached the stage where we’re able to release this product to the region. It’s been a very labor intensive process and much larger than we initially projected,” says BEDC Chair Grace McGregor.  “However, we’re very pleased with the outcome and are looking forward to filling some of the gaps, working on keyword optimization and upgrading content in the near future.”

The regional site, located at www.boundarybc.com , was developed by Destination Development Inc. with input from the BEDC.  Project manager Jennifer Wetmore said the site is not complete and will be contracted out to a web developer for further work in short order.

While the website is an important tool for local service providers and locals alike, Wetmore explained that the focus of the site is to attract tourism to the Boundary Region and so most of the marketing/promotion efforts will be focused in the Okanagan, Lower Mainland and Washington State markets.

The site is designed to draw year round business to the region and is intended to tweak interest in the extensive activities and unique services the Boundary offers.  Instead of creating a list of services, this site presents opportunities to tourists by season and activity.  “It’s a “What to do, when to do it” kind of approach” says McGregor.

This project is just one in a series of tourism initiatives that the BEDC has funded and facilitated. For more information on this project or the BEDC in general please email  Wetmore at Jennifer@boundarycf.com or call 250-442-2722.
