Storm and power outage didn't stop annual Homecoming

The show must go on, as the old adage goes, and so it did for Christina Lake's annual Homecoming.

Bad weather and a power outage that lasted more than 18 hours didn't stop hundreds of community members and visitors from coming out to the community hall to enjoy the much anticipated event.

The weekend began with a Wine and Cheese event at the Christina Lake Living Arts Centre on Friday, July 20. The storm hit, the power went out and the event was made even more magical by candlelight.

On Saturday, July 21, the events, which were all held at the Community Hall, began with the annual pancake breakfast. The breakfast became more of a camping experience when the grills had to move outdoors due to the power being out.

Vendors selling everything from handicrafts to food surrounded the outside of the hall. There were free activities for the kids and even a petting zoo by Owl Mountain Ranch.

The day ended with a presentation of a new Christina Lake Song, created by the community alongside special guest songwriter Lowry Olafson.

During the entertainment there was a fire department barbeque and a toe tapping good time dance with Les Folles Jambette from Grand Forks.
