Steve Nash Youth Basketball back for another season in Nelson

Now that the youth soccer season is winding down, basketball lovers will bi happy to know the Steve Nash Youth Basketball (SNYB) program is ready for another season of the sport in Nelson.

The Fall session begins Wednesday, October 5 at Hume Elementary and Trafalgar Gymnasiums.

Players from the ages of six to 11 (Grades 1 to 6) will be able to enjoy fun while developing skills to enjoy the game.

The emphasis is on skill development for girls and boys.

SNYB is an inclusive ‘Youth Basketball’ program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and a love of the game of basketball, with instruction by former LV Rogers Secondary School Senior Boys’ Basketball Head Coach, Jeremy Phelan.

SNYB is a grassroots partnership between parents, community members, and BasketballBC designed to give children across Canada an opportunity to learn fundamental basketball skills in a fun, positive, and structured environment.

SNYB sessions will run Wednesdays between 5:15-6:15 p.m. at Hume Elementary School for Grades 1-3 and 6 pm. to 7 p.m. at Trafalgar for Grades 4-6.

Registration for past campers is $85 and new members, which includes a Basketball BC membership, is $100.

There is a one-time trial fee of $5.

Registration includes a Basketball BC membership, reversible jersey and a basketball.

Anyone want to join should register at Hume or Trafalgar with shorts, T-shirt, indoor athletic footwear and a name-labelled water bottle.

Registration deadline is September 28th.
