Make Valuable Connections at Selkirk College Career & Education Fair
Rewarding education and employment are just around the corner. The Selkirk College Career & Education Fair brings students and community members together with employers and post-secondary programs that will help them along the pathway to success.
The annual event takes place Tuesday, March 7 on the Castlegar Campus and features more than 60 exhibitors. All the resources needed to plan for a future career will be in one space with face-to-face networking a key component.
“Our goal is to bring together careers and the education that can lead to those rewarding careers,” says Education Recruitment Specialist Amy Byers. “The fair is free to attend and is open to absolutely everyone. We encourage not only job seekers to attend but also high school students and parents, and others interested in our post-secondary programs.”
The Career & Education Fair allows people to make valuable connections with employers from throughout the region and beyond to find out which companies are hiring right now. This year, the list of employers joining Selkirk College is up to 30 and includes – among others – BC Parks, Fortis BC, West Coast Grill and Kokanee Mountain Zipline.
“Kokanee Mountain Zipline is committed to hiring local and keeping jobs in the West Kootenay,” says co-owner and operator Todd Manton. “In the past, Selkirk College has provided us with valuable employees who have come back for several years. We hope that the Career Fair will continue this trend.”
The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Selkirk College staff will be available to chat, helping to solidify career goals by establishing a plan for achieving them through education.
“Selkirk College is committed to providing pathways to meaningful employment,” says Byers. “We would love to hear your dreams and then help you chart your course for achieving them. We are ready to answer questions about programs, admissions and financial aid opportunities.”
