Although our Summer Reading Club began yesterday, it’s still not too late to sign up! And as a way to accommodate those of you who don’t want to commit to all seven weeks, we’ll be leaving our Fridays open as a drop-in. Bring your 6-12 year olds by any Friday from July 8 to August 22, either from 10 – 12 or from 1 – 3 pm.  And we’ve still got a few last-minute spots for the full program available, so give us a call or come by if you want more information. (And for those of you who are just joining us, our Summer Reading Club is a free program for children ages 6-12, with games, stories, crafts, and lots of fun.)

Beat the Heat

If you need a break from the sun this summer, you’ll be happy to know that many of our programs will continue right on through to the fall – including our knitting club, chess club, and Tech Cafe. And for those of you who might want some help keeping the kids or grandkids entertained, check out our Storytime Boxes (themed sets of books, CDs, puppets, etc.)

Christina Lake

Everyone loves the lake! Especially at this time of year. And we’re no exception – Lizanne will be at the Welcome Centre every Wednesday from 10 am to 4 pm, and for July and August she’ll be holding  weekly storytimes there (11:30 – 12:00) and lego craziness (1 – 3 pm). It’s the hottest part of the day, so if you need a break you can drop by and visit her in the back room of the Welcome Centre. We’ll also have a booth at the Christina Lake homecoming – see you there!

More Music…

The energetic and exciting Mr. Mojo will be bringing his guitar back to our library on Wednesday, July 16 at 1 pm, for a fun-filled event for the whole family. He’ll have them dancing and singing. Warning: this is probably not  a good time to visit the library if you’re looking for some quiet study time!

…and Audio and Video

We’ve added a whole bunch of audiobooks (on CD) and videos to our collection recently. Here are some of our new documentaries:

1) Payback
2) Pink Ribbons Inc.
3) The Elder Project
4) Status Quo? The Unfinished Business of Feminism in Canada
5) The Untold History of the United States
