It is with interest that I read the comments of Minister Lynne Yelich in regard to my statement on the budget. Rather than reiterate what I had originally said, I would like to make a few other comments. It is certainly reassuring that Western Diversification will continue to provide effective programs. However, I am concerned about the 5 percent cuts and sincerely hope that this does not negatively impact our Community Futures programs and projects.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Minister and Western Diversification for the support they have given to various projects in our riding. This is as it should be, regardless which party the MP represents. It reflects the hard work of those in our communities who laid the groundwork for this funding.
I look forward to the next phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
