The Grand Forks Border Bruins must try to find away on home ice to stop the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.

The Bruins played the Hawks tough for two games, but still dropped a pair of Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Playoff games during the weekend in Fruitvale.

Grand Forks lost 3-2 Friday as Blake Sidoni scored with 20 seconds remaining in the game.

Saturday, Dylan Kent, Jake Yuris and Sidoni scored in the opening frame to power Beaver Valley to a 7-1 victory.

The Hawks, out shooting the Bruins 63-19, now lead the best-of-seven Murdoch Division Semi Final 2-0.

Games three and four are Monday and Tuesday in Grand Forks.

Saturday, the Hawks came to play, holding a wide margin of the play in the first period with an 18-5 shots advantage.

Sam Swanson increased the lead to 4-0 in the second period before Chad Grambo scored on the power play midway through the second to stop the bleeding.

However, Tyler Hartman on the power play, Sidoni and Bradley Ross completed the rout.

Tallon Kramer, capturing his second victory of the playoffs, had an easy time in the Beaver Valley nets to register the win while Anthony Galliart was in goal for the Bruins.

Friday Alexander Leonidas and Conner Brennan scored for Grand Forks while Sidoni and Tylery Ghirardosi replied for Beaver Valley.

BRUINS BANTER: Sam Swanson led the Hawks with three points while four players finished with two points. . . . Castlegar scored early and often to even its series with Nelson. The Rebels won 5-1 at home Saturday. . . . In the Eddie Mountain Division, Creston Valley leads its series with Columbia Valley 2-0 while Fernie doubled Kimberley 4-2 Saturday to even its series 1-1.
