Green Party candidate to run in the Boundary-Similkameen

The Boundary-Similkameen riding now has a third candidate for the coming provincial elections, May 9.
Facing Liberal incumbent MLA Linda Larson and NDP’s Colleen Ross — also a Grand Forks city councillor — is Vonnie Lavers, a Green Party candidate.
Lavers, an Oliver resident, is originally from Newfoundland but has is a long-time resident of BC.
Her experience comes from entrepreneurial ventures including new business creation and development, public relations, marketing and communications, non profit leadership, community organization development and government relations.
“We can build and will build a clean economy,” said Lavers. “It’s time for new thinking, where families flourish, communities flourish and our province flourishes using common sense principles that nurture people’s livelihoods and enjoyment of nature.”
Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Lavers’ nomination.
“I am delighted to have Vonnie on the B.C. Greens team,” said Weaver. “Her commitment to food security for those struggling with affordability is commendable. Her extensive business experience and passion for her community will make her an exceptional representative for the people of Boundary-Similkameen.”
Lavers graduated with a Public Relations Education from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta.
Lavers received a Governor General’s Award in 2012 for her commitment to providing healthy food to families in need.
Her objective is to achieve results and find inclusive, creative and durable solutions for difficult problems. Lavers values volunteers and that community service builds a sense of respect for others and the world.
