Gallery 2 to host Jordan Bennett exhibition

Gallery 2 is pleased to announce it is hosting works by world class, Canadian artist, Jordan Bennett starting Aug. 26th.

Bennett, from Mi’kmaq heritage and Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, has had exhibitions around the world featuring his multi-disciplinary visual arts. Venues such as The Museum of Art and Design, NYC, NY; Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Santa Fe, NM; Project Space Gallery, RMIT, Melbourne, AUS; Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris, France; The Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver BC, to name a few.

Bennett’s art is influenced by his Mi’kmaq culture as well as his observations of historical and pop-culture, new media and political issues. By means of sculpture, sound installation, digital media, endurance performance, and other various mediums, he brings his art to us.

Along with his impressive resume of gallery exhibitions, Bennett was also name one of the Top 30 Under 30 Artists of 2014 by Blouin ARTINFO. He has also been long listed for this year’s Sobey Art Award, presented with the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council. He is currently completing a master’s degree at the University of British Columbia Okanagan with a focus on Mi’kmaq and Beothuk visual culture.

Bennett with be holding a talk on his work at 6:30 p.m. and the exhibit will open 7:00 p.m. Wednesday August 26th at Gallery 2. Admission is by donation and all are welcome to come and enjoy the fine art.
