Fun was had by all
"Of all the countries in the world, this is the best one to be in," Regional District Kootenay Boundary Area C director Grace McGregor most aptly observed during the Christina Lake Canada Day festivies over the weekend.
She, and hundreds of other people across the Boundary, celebrated this very sentiment while enjoying birthday cake, parades, live entertainment and fabulous family fun.
In Grand Forks a parade through town was led by the Queen herself, well actress Christy Luke playing the queen at least, to celebrate the monarch's diamond jubilee.
After the parade, Nicole Del Aguila led the crowd in O Canada and mayor Brian Taylor welcomed the community with a vision for a future without borders in North America.
Children enjoyed games and face painting while parents shopped, listened to music and enjoyed different edible treats.
While the evening's entertainment got doused a couple of times by stormy weather, many people took in the great line up of acts.
