A local fire department needs YOU to help them raise funds to stage an explosive event.

“The Crescent Valley Fire Department (CVFD) will be holding its annual bake sale at the South Slocan branch of the Kootenay Savings Credit Union on  Oct. 17,” says Ryan Durand. “The proceeds of the bake sale are the primary fundraiser for the annual CVFD Halloween fireworks show.”

Durand said they also get additional funding via donations from local businesses and residents.

“Each year, for more than 10 years, the CVFD puts on a huge fireworks display at the Fire Department, with over $1,500 worth of fireworks shot off last year,” he added. “Hot chocolate, candy, and a costume contest also occur in the fire hall, along with tours of the fire engine and other equipment.

The bake sale will be running all day during the normal Credit Union hours. For more information, or if you would like to donate directly to the fireworks fund, contact Ryan Durand at 250-359-7420 or rdurand@rdck.bc.ca.
