There are now four people in the running for the vacant Boundary-Similkameen after the BC Conservatives and Wexit BC confirmed candidates for the upcoming BC Provincial Election October 24th.

Darryl Seres, a South Okanagan resident, will be representing BC’s Conservatives while Arlyn Greig, for the BC Wexit Party, recently added their names to the ballot.

Seres and Greig join BC Liberal candidate Petra Veintimilla and Roly Russell of the BC NDP on the ballot for the upcoming election.

The candidates will be looking to replace former BC Liberal MLA, Linda Larson, who decided not to seek re-election.

“Darryl Seres has twelve years involvement in the non-profit sector — mainly in education, management, and overseas in humanitarian development,” said BC Conservative leader Trevor Bolin.

“He has also spent the last four years working in the Okanagan wine and tourism industry as he completes his Masters at UBC Okanagan in the fields of history, religion and politics”.

Seres said lists expanding inter-provincial trade as one of his platform ideas.

“It’s is crucial that we benefit our wine and agricultural producers and to break our dependence on foreign supply chains for critical sectors of the economy such as health care and information technology,” Seres said.

Greig is one of two BC Wexit candidates on the ballot in the upcoming election, joining Dorothy Sharon Smith in Peace River South.

The two Wexit candidates, making history as the first BC Wexit candidates, said, in a Facebook post, they “symbolize the separatist sentiments here in BC and Western Canada.

As a resident of Osoyoos for the past ten years, Seres, the current vice-president of the BC Conservative Party, said it is time for elected officials to represent their riding while in office.

“People are tired of their elected representatives putting partisan politics and special interest groups first. It’s time for elected officials to represent the needs of their constituents,” said Seres.

The BC Liberals won the Boundary-Similkameen by a healthy 10.7 percent in 2017 as Larson defeated Colleen Ross of the NDP (32.73 per cent) and Independent Peter Entwistle (14.24 per cent ). Vonnie Lavers of the BC Green Party was fourth with 10.23. per cent of the vote.
