Both Christina Lake Fire and Rescue and the Grand Forks fire department tackled a fire in rural Christina Lake home, March 4.

Christina Lake fire fighters were the first ones on the scene to a structural fire West of the lake, however, they needed extra help from Grand Forks as water was limited. They got a water shuttle going but were not able to save the building.

The roof collapsed into the basement, which is where the fire originated. The fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause is being investigated.

Christina Lake Fire Rescue called the fire a “total loss” on their Facebook page and said it is the worst kind of fire because “no matter how big or small, fancy or not, it is someone’s home where all their stuff is.”

They also said there are grateful for their connections with other local fire centres, like Grand Forks, because that is critical in rural communities.
