Chamber appoints new director

After a diligent search and interview process, the board of the Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce (BCRCC) is pleased to announce that a new executive director has been appointed.
Kathy Wright is moving from Athabasca, Alberta, to assume the executive director position. She is leaving her position with Community Development and Tourism at the Town of Athabasca, a position she has held since 2010.
Kathy filled a variety of roles there with promotion, budgeting, volunteer coordination, and membership, and worked closely with a board of directors. Previously she served as constituency manager for the local Member of Parliament (now Opposition Leader in Alberta), managing director for Lesser Slave Lake Regional Tourism, manager of the Regional Visitor Information Centre in Slave Lake, special projects coordinator of the Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, and chamber manager in Chetwynd, B.C. She has also been involved directly in business with 3 Wrights Consulting.
Kathy brings a history of leadership, involvement, and volunteerism to our Regional Chamber of Commerce. Her development of special projects like the farmers’ market and Art Walk in Slave Lake has led to recognition of excellence with regard to hospitality and tourism.
Although her recent work history has been in Alberta, Kathy is originally from British Columbia, and is excited to be moving to the Boundary Region.
Kathy assumes her position on Sept.1, and the BCRCC office will remain in the Community Futures Boundary building on Hwy 3 in Grand Forks.
Kathy replaces James Wilson who provided superb service to the BCRCC, and who is now serving as the executive director of the Boundary Family and Individual Services Society.
